Kouassi joins Bayern Munich - Top talent leaves PSG on a free transfer
Tanguy Kouassi has decided to sign a contract at Bayern Munich. Both RMC Sport and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano broke the news on Tuesday. The 18-year-old will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his contract this summer and sign a five-year deal at the Rekordmeister. On the weekend, Le10sport were the first to report that Bayern Munich were interested, the German portal Fussballstransfers then suggested that Bayern were the favorites to sign the defender.
There have been various rumors involving Kouassi in recent weeks. First, it was reported that RB Leipzig were favorites to sign the 18-year-old, then it appeared he would sign a new contract, and then Stade Rennes were considered favorites to sign Kouassi. Guardian and Sky reporter Romano has suggested that PSG's bosses are furious about Kouassi's decision to leave the club.
FC Bayern Munich want to sign top talents - Kouassi fits profile
A transfer to Bayern Munich would fit the statements made by sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić at the end of April. "We want to sign a top European talent and an international star, who can advance the quality of the team and guarantees our fans results as well as attractive football," Salihamidžić said.
The international star will be Manchester City winger Leroy Sané. Kouassi could be the top talent. Germany's magazine kicker has suggested that Bayern want to sign a center back, someone who can also fulfill the number six role. Kouassi can play both roles. "He can play both positions," PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel said in February. "He is very strong, has a great personality, is aware and reliable. He has a lot of confidence, which is great. In my opinion, you can count on him."
Wherever Kouassi will go, he is following the trend of many PSG players from the club's academy. In the last few years, PSG lost Moussa Diaby, (Bayer Leverkusen), Christopher Nkunku (Leipzig), Stanley Nsoki (Nice), Timothy Weah (Lille), Arthur Zagre (Monaco), Odsonne Edouard (Celtic), Yacine Adli (Bordeaux), Jonathan Ikoné (Lille), Antoine Bernede (Salzburg), Kingsley Coman (to Juve now Bayern) and Dan-Axel Zagadou (BVB).
