It is no secret that Abdul Rahman Baba no longer has a future at his current club, Chelsea. According to information from Daily Mirror journalist Graeme Bailey, Middlesbrough are interested in signing the 26-year-old left-back on the final day of the domestic transfer window. Transfermarkt can confirm the information.

As Transfermarkt has learned, not only Boro want the defender, with Watford and Birmingham remaining interested in the former Bundesliga player as well. Baba is under contract with Chelsea until 2022. The Blues had signed the Ghanaian for €26 million, including add-ons, from Augsburg in 2015.

After spending one year at Stamford Bridge, Baba initially moved to Schalke on loan. Further loans to Stade Reims and finally RCD Mallorca followed – with little success. In Spain, Baba missed almost the entire season due to a knee injury, however. He had already been absent at Schalke for several months after a cruciate ligament and meniscus injury.
